“You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart always will be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.”—Miriam Adeney (via libranta)
It’s probably been two years that I started giving up stuff for Lent. I don’t really remember the first year. Maybe that means that I’ve only started giving stuff up for Lent seriously a year ago. But none of that really matters. Lent starts in about less than 2 hours. And here I am trying to make the most out of it even though, I have a chem midterm tomorrow.
This year, I will also be giving up social networking. Facebook. Instagram. Twitter. Tumblr. I felt like last year, was more like a challenge. A challenge to see if I could really last 40 days without social networking. I didn’t really grow spiritually from it. I didn’t learn anything. I want this year to be different. From everything that I’ve learned this past year at GOC, I want to apply it. I want to work on trusting God. Being content. Work on my prayer life. Social networking takes up a really big part of my life. Even if I’m not posting, I’m just scrolling through the newsfeeds and dashboards. It’s even easier now with a smartphone. The temptation will probably be greater this year, but I’ma do this. I’ma do this with the help of God. Gonna try to set even greater time for God.
today is thursday. no classes and all i did was chill. O___o
Thursday. The day I look forward to every week because I don’t have any classes at all. Yes. Finally! For four days a week, I have to wake up early for my 8am classes, but Thursday, I can wake up whenever I want to. And although I try not to sleep in for too long, I didn’t really wake up until 10. Although I did wake up at 7:20 to walk down to the UCLA Store with Steph to buy a crew neck and two tshirts for the Valentine Day sale aka paying for my bruin pride.
My day then consisted of two meet ups. haha Hardly any work done. I laugh, but it’s really not something to be proud of especially since my chem midterm is next Wednesday!! AHHHHHH! Meet ups were goood though. Lunch at covel. That was as healthy as healthy gets for me today cause I ate a salad. Good, interesting and stimulating convos with my name ninja, Jessica. Afterwards I attempted to get help at the Student Math Center. Was lost for 5 min kinda until I found the place. Didn’t know who was tutoring, so I just sat there and read my math book tryna figure out wussup. Did one problem and then left to go hangout in Westwood with Estelle. Went to Yogurtland and the Hammer. Good catchup.
And then here I am. Tumblrin’ after dinner. Feast had Chinese New Year dinner and oh man it was delish!! Checked it out with Anna and then we bumped into Christie and Louise and hecka other GOC-ers. Soo blessed to have foood like this! There was bok choy with rice cakes and tong yuan!! Main staples for this meal tonight. nomnomnom!
love my God and my friends. Aiites, I gotta study for reals now. hahah ttyl :)
I haven’t written in awhile. I remember when I used to write and reblog hecka much. Nowadays though, I’ve just been lazy, only reblogging stuff I see on my dashboard and whatnot. I kinda wanna start writing some stuff. We’ll see how long that lasts. I’m writing right now because on another tab I have opened, I am “watching” Mozart’s Magic Flute. And to be honest, I do not have the patience to just watch an opera. However, I do enjoy this week’s opera a lot more, Handel’s Giulio Cesare was kinda too intense and more boring haha!
Today was hard. 8am’s four days a week are not the business. Trying to adjust my sleeping schedule to get 7-8 hours of sleep, but it’s tough. So I woke up super tired this morning and it basically was like that for the entire day. Dozed off a couple times in each of my lectures. ARGH!!!
Checked out a club/internship/program thing whatever you call it today. Seems pretty cool. I kinda really wanna be in it. haha. I needa join something and I think this will be good experience. Plus, it fits my major! Human Bio and Society!! yeaaa yeea! Unexpectedly walked into the meeting room and saw Irene, Lydia, and then Aileen and Tavia. hah good laughs tho!
But like every other day, today did have it’s highlights! Just gotta enjoy the lil things right!? Hung out with Ashwei at North Campus Student Center today during our one hour gap like we do every Monday and Wednesday! haha I took a nap today tho! I really enjoy our one hour hangouts! Had lunch with Estelle at feast. Food was aiites, but company was greeat! Then. And Then..dinner at covel. First of all, the chicken and pasta was reeeally goood. Secondly, the conversation just kicked off. Kinda weird, kinda sarcastic, but definitely funny. hahah. I swear it was sooo fuunny. lol. Love my friends.
And. I CANNOT wait until Friday. FROSH-SOPH SLEEPOVER YO!!! be excited. i am lol
